Ovechkin surpassed Gordie Howe, finishing the season with 822 career goals, while he continued to pursue Wayne Gretzky’s career NHL goals record of 894. He also set records for the most goals with one franchise, most career goals scored on the road, and most 40-goal seasons.

Top Five Jersey Sales

Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins came in second in jersey sales, followed by Boston Bruins star David Pastrnak in third. New Jersey Devils’ Jack Hughes had a surge in jersey sales, joining the top five in fourth place, while Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs came in fifth.

Best-Selling Teams

The Boston Bruins had the top-selling jerseys among NHL teams, setting regular-season records for wins (65) and points (135). The New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Washington Capitals, and 2022 Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche rounded out the top five for best-selling teams.

Playoff Sales Increase

According to Fanatics, NHL merchandise sales during the first round of the playoffs were up 45% over 2022. The Boston Bruins continued to lead the way in jersey sales during the first round, even though they were eliminated in seven games by the Florida Panthers. The rest of the top five were the Toronto Maple Leafs, Seattle Kraken, New York Rangers, and New Jersey Devils. The Kraken won their first-ever playoff series in Round 1.
