The New York Yankees’ roster has suffered yet another blow as right-hander, Lou Trivino, is set to undergo Tommy John surgery. Although Trivino has yet to play a game this season, New York was depending on the hurler to come out of the bullpen.

Despite not having played, Trivino had proven his worth when he was traded along with Frankie Montas from the Oakland Athletics to the Yankees at last year’s trade deadline, where he posted a 1.66 ERA in 26 games.

Update on Carlos Rodón

The Yankees are also dealing with the absence of lefty Carlos Rodón, who is currently experiencing back discomfort after starting the season on the injured list due to a forearm injury. The Yankees and Rodón signed a six-year, $162 million contract this offseason, and his absence has been a significant loss for the team. Rodón has thrown a few bullpen sessions, but there is a possibility that he could be shut down again.

“He can’t get over the hump of the back,” said Yankees manager Aaron Boone. “So having other people look at it, he’s kind of continued to throw through all of this, but just getting to that place we need to get him to, that hasn’t happened. So just trying to continue to get those answers.”

Boone expressed his disappointment at Trivino’s injury, but his primary concern was for Trivino’s well-being and recovery.

“I hate it, but more than anything right now it’s kind of just feeling for him and knowing how Trivy works and really wanting to be a part of this,” said Boone. “I know it’s disappointing, but the big thing right now is to support him through this. So right now it’s just in regards to Lou, it’s just feeling for the person hoping he gets through surgery. I know he is going to work his tail to get back at some point next year.”

The Yankees’ injury woes continue to plague the team, and they hope to overcome these challenges and come out on top.
