In a thrilling qualifying session, Daniel Suarez of Trackhouse Racing secured his first pole position of the season for the upcoming race. With an average lap speed of 99.814 mph, Suarez was able to outperform his competitors and claim the top starting spot. This achievement marks the third pole position of Suarez’s career but his first since the 2019 season.

Following the qualifying session, Suarez expressed his pride in his team at Trackhouse Racing. He acknowledged their hard work and dedication, attributing their success to their collaboration and commitment to improvement. Despite already having the speed, Suarez emphasized the importance of executing their strategy effectively on race day. He eagerly awaits the opportunity to showcase their potential and believes they are well-prepared for the upcoming event.

While Suarez claimed the pole position, he will face stiff competition from the rest of the starting grid. Chase Elliott secured the third quickest lap, trailing behind Suarez by a narrow margin. Michael McDowell and Kyle Busch will line up in fourth and fifth place, respectively. The top-ten starting order also includes Kyle Larson, Christopher Bell, Shane van Gisbergen, Alex Bowman, and Ty Gibbs. Fellow Supercars star Brodie Kostecki managed to secure the 11th spot in the starting order.

Last year’s event winner, Tyler Reddick, put up a formidable performance but fell just short of overtaking Suarez for the pole position. Reddick’s average lap speed of 99.649 mph secured him a second-place starting position. Notable entrants like Joey Logano, Denny Hamlin, Chase Briscoe, and Chris Buescher struggled to advance to the final round of qualifying, posing unexpected challenges for their teams.

In the initial round of qualifying, Michael McDowell set the fastest lap with an impressive average speed of 99.881 mph. Larson and Bowman followed closely behind, securing the second and third positions, respectively. Additionally, Ty Gibbs and Shane van Gisbergen also advanced to the final round of qualifying, further highlighting their skill and potential in this event.

Brodie Kostecki, competing as a Supercars star, aimed to break into the top five during his final attempt. However, a loss of control off Turn 11 resulted in Kostecki hitting the wall, inflicting significant damage to his No. 33 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet. Disappointed in himself, Kostecki acknowledged the speed of his car and expressed optimism about his chances in the race despite the setback.

Several notable drivers failed to advance to the final round of qualifying from Group B, including Martin Truex Jr., Kevin Harvick, and William Byron. Byron’s No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet failed inspection three times on Friday, resulting in his disqualification from the qualifying session.

As the upcoming race approaches, anticipation builds as drivers and teams prepare to showcase their skills and strategies on the track. With Daniel Suarez securing the first pole position of the season, the competition intensifies as drivers aim for victory and the coveted championship points. Fans eagerly await the race day, looking forward to witnessing thrilling on-track battles and the pursuit of ultimate success.
