The new Iron Lynx prototype has made a lasting impression during its first running in the United States, topping the GTP timesheets and covering an impressive 1,150km across two days. Despite encountering a delayed start and a left-rear blowout, the team managed to showcase the potential of the car ahead of its participation in the IMSA SportsCar Championship Endurance Cup races. This article delves into the team’s performance, the drivers’ achievements, and the future plans for Iron Lynx.

The Iron Lynx prototype, powered by a 3.8-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine, proved its worth on the Daytona track. Andrea Caldarelli, exclusively driving on day one, achieved a lap time of 1m35.027s, only a second away from last year’s pole time for the Daytona 24 Hours. While the car will not compete in the race, it is being sent back to Europe for World Endurance Championship homologation ahead of the opening race in Qatar.

Sanna, a representative of Iron Lynx, expressed satisfaction with the team’s progress and the technical advancements made during the Daytona test. The track holds significance in terms of development and Lamborghini Squadra Corse history. The team acknowledges that there is still work to be done, but the positive feedback from the test has boosted their confidence in the prototype’s capabilities.

Romain Grosjean, Daniil Kvyat, and Mirko Bortolotti took turns behind the wheel during the Daytona test. Caldarelli, Grosjean, and Kvyat are likely to represent Iron Lynx in its US debut at Sebring. Furthermore, Bortolotti and Caldarelli are set to race at Daytona in Iron Lynx’s GTD Pro class Huracan entry. With such a strong driver line-up, the team is poised to make an impact in both endurance and GT races.

Despite the successful test in Daytona, Iron Lynx is not resting on its laurels. The team is now preparing for its final LMDh pre-season test at Austin’s Circuit of the Americas. This test will prove crucial for gaining further insights into the car’s performance and making necessary adjustments ahead of the upcoming season. Additionally, Iron Lynx plans to bring their GT cars to COTA, as the track’s unique characteristics will provide valuable information for damper development in collaboration with partner KW.

Iron Lynx’s prototype has demonstrated great potential during its US debut, topping the GTP timesheets and showcasing exceptional durability by covering 1,150km. Despite setbacks such as a delayed start and a blowout, the team remains optimistic about the upcoming season. With a talented driver line-up and upcoming tests at COTA, Iron Lynx continues to make strides towards achieving success in both endurance and GT racing. The future looks promising for this ambitious team and their impressive prototype.
