Consequently, fresh documentation is currently being prepared for submission and subsequent approval. Although this new process will be time-consuming, the team does not anticipate a significant delay in the operational readiness of the wind tunnel. In fact, it is expected to serve as the primary development facility for Red Bull Racing’s 2026 car.
A Legacy of Upgrades
Ever since Red Bull Racing’s foray into F1 following its acquisition of the Jaguar team in 2004, the team has utilized an upgraded wind tunnel located in Bedford as its designated facility. Interestingly, this wind tunnel was originally designed at the conclusion of World War 2 to facilitate aircraft development and was previously employed by the Arrows team. The decision to construct a new wind tunnel was one of the final determinations made by Red Bull’s founder, Dietrich Mateshitz, prior to his passing last year.
