Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has claimed that his team is now the favorite to win the Premier League title after crushing Arsenal 4-1. Guardiola previously argued that Arsenal was the favorite, but City is now in pole position with two games in hand and only two points behind. Arsenal remains at the top of the table, but Guardiola stated that he would prefer City’s position because it is now in their hands.
Guardiola acknowledged that the next three games are crucial, starting with Fulham on Sunday, followed by two home games. These games will determine whether City can win the title. Guardiola praised Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland for their outstanding performance against Arsenal, with De Bruyne scoring two goals and Haaland scoring one and assisting both of De Bruyne’s goals. Guardiola claimed that the pair decided the game and that they are a natural fit for each other.
Despite the loss, Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, refused to concede defeat in the race for the title. He admitted that Arsenal may have to win all five remaining games to have a chance of finishing above City. Arteta praised his players for still being in the competition and the fact that they are competing against a team like Manchester City is incredible. Arteta denied claims that his players were scared and stated that they were just not at their best on the night.
De Bruyne reminded everyone that there is still a long way to go, and City would not give up until it is mathematically impossible. City’s schedule is hectic, and there is still a lot to play for in the remaining seven games.
