The fight was highly contested in the last few rounds, with both fighters landing strong shots. In the final round, Munguia shockingly dropped Derevyanchenko with a body shot. Derevyanchenko beat the count, but Munguia was now going for broke. However, Derevyanchenko somehow managed to survive the round. In the end, it was Munguia who won a slim decision victory, stepping out of the ring as the winner of a thrilling super middleweight fight.
