Casper Ruud, the top-seeded player at the Geneva Open, began his title defense in style by defeating J.J. Wolf 6-3, 7-5 in the second round of the tournament. With this win, Ruud has extended his unbeaten run in Geneva to 9-0. He has won back-to-back titles in the past two years at this clay-court event, which serves as a final warmup for the French Open. Last year, he was the runner-up at the French Open.

Impressive Performance Against Tough Opponent

Ruud’s victory over Wolf was not easy, as the 49th-ranked American proved to be an aggressive and tough opponent. Ruud had a match-point chance early on in the contest but double-faulted. However, he made no mistake with his second opportunity, hitting a forehand winner to seal the win. Speaking after the match, Ruud said, “It’s a great win for me.”

Quarterfinals Opponent Revealed

Ruud’s quarterfinals opponent will be Nicolas Jarry, who advanced to the next round after his opponent, Tallon Griekspoor, withdrew from their match. Jarry is a Chilean player who has won one ATP title in his career so far.
