Anaheim, Calif. – Cutter Gauthier, the standout forward from Boston College who made headlines with his impressive goal-scoring ability, has officially signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Anaheim Ducks. This signing marks a significant step in Gauthier’s career as he prepares to make his NHL debut on Thursday against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Gauthier’s rights were acquired by the Ducks from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for defenseman Jamie Drysdale and a second-round pick in the 2025 NHL draft. The Flyers’ decision to trade Gauthier stemmed from his refusal to sign, train, or communicate with the team, according to general manager Danny Briere. Despite being selected fifth overall by the Flyers in the 2022 NHL draft, Gauthier’s behavior led to his departure from Philadelphia.

During his time at Boston College, Gauthier set a remarkable record by scoring 38 goals in a single season, tying him with Ryan Potulny for the most goals by a collegiate player in the past 25 years. Additionally, Gauthier led the NCAA in game-winning goals with 10, ranked second in total points with 65, and tied for second in power-play goals with 13. These outstanding performances earned him a nomination for the prestigious Hobey Baker Award, recognizing the top player in college hockey.

Despite Gauthier’s stellar performance throughout the season, Boston College fell short in the NCAA title game against Denver, losing 2-0. The defeat marked the end of the Eagles’ 15-game win streak and their first shutout since March 11, 2023. Nevertheless, Boston College’s impressive record of 34-6-1 showcased the team’s dominance in college hockey.

International Success

In addition to his achievements at the collegiate level, Gauthier also played a key role in Team USA’s gold medal victory at the World Junior Championship. Leading all players in scoring with 12 points, he was named the tournament’s best forward, further solidifying his reputation as a rising star in the world of hockey.

Overall, Cutter Gauthier’s signing with the Anaheim Ducks represents a significant milestone in his promising career. As he prepares to make his NHL debut, fans and analysts alike are eager to see how his exceptional talent and goal-scoring prowess will translate to the professional level. With a track record of success in college hockey and on the international stage, Gauthier is poised to make a major impact in the NHL for years to come.
