However, as had been the case throughout the season, starting with harder compounds proved detrimental to Ferrari’s performance. Sainz explained that the combination of dirty air and sliding made it difficult for the team to gain an advantage. Recognizing their diminishing chances of scoring points, the team opted to prolong their pit stop in the hope of a safety car intervention. Unfortunately, this gamble did not yield the desired results either.
