Carlos Alcaraz won his semifinal match against Borna Coric at the Madrid Open on his 20th birthday. However, Alcaraz appeared perplexed after the match when tournament organizers presented him with a massive birthday cake that was crowned by a huge tennis ball with the number 20 on it. Despite his confusion, Alcaraz deftly sliced off a piece of cake to try before taking a swig from his water bottle.

Alcaraz Aims for Fourth Title of the Season

Alcaraz is having a successful year, with a record of 28-2 and three titles already under his belt. He is aiming for his fourth title of the season after victories in Buenos Aires, Indian Wells, and Barcelona. If Alcaraz successfully defends his title in Madrid, he will regain the world No. 1 ranking by playing one match in Rome next week.

Alcaraz Looks Forward to Madrid Open Final

Alcaraz is excited to play in the Madrid Open final again, a tournament that has special meaning for him. He has great memories of playing there since he was in the under-12s category. He doesn’t feel any pressure and just wants to play great matches and get good results. Alcaraz will face either Jan-Lennard Struff or Aslan Karatsev in the final.

Alcaraz’s Road to the Final

Alcaraz has dropped only one set during the tournament, in his opener against Emil Ruusuvuori. After that, he made quick work of Grigor Dimitrov, Alexander Zverev, and Karen Khachanov to reach the semifinals. In his first matchup with Coric, Alcaraz changed tactics after Coric was able to counter his drop shots. Alcaraz took a 3-2 break lead and never looked back.

In the women’s final, No. 1 Iga Swiatek and No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka will face off on Saturday.
