Bellator MMA’s event in Paris has experienced a setback with undefeated lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov pulling out of his title defense against Alexander Shabliy due to an unspecified injury. The PFL, which owns Bellator, has assured fans that the bout will be rebooked in the near future. This was supposed to be Nurmagomedov’s comeback from a suspension after testing positive for a banned substance last October.
In light of Nurmagomedov’s withdrawal, Patchy Mix’s bantamweight title defense against Magomed Magomedov has been promoted to the headline spot for Bellator Champions Series: Paris at Accor Arena. Mix will be facing Magomedov in a rematch, with Mix looking to defend his title successfully once again.
A new addition to the fight card in Paris is the Bellator debut of former two-time Glory kickboxing champion Cedric Doumbé, a Frenchman originally from Cameroon. Despite the excitement surrounding his debut, Doumbe’s opponent is yet to be determined. Originally set to face Derek Anderson, Doumbe had to withdraw due to a foot injury sustained in a bike accident.
Doumbe has showcased his skills in PFL Europe, delivering a stunning 9-second knockout against Jordan Zébo last September. However, his last match ended in disappointment with a TKO loss to Baissangour Chamsoudinov after complaining about a foot injury caused by a splinter of glass. Despite these setbacks, Doumbe remains determined to make a statement in his Bellator debut.
Through these recent developments, Bellator MMA’s event in Paris has undergone significant changes, with fans eagerly awaiting the new matchups and excited to see how the fighters will adapt to the alterations in the fight card.
