San Diego Padres’ Manny Machado has suffered a small fracture in his left hand after being hit by a pitch in Monday’s game against the Kansas City Royals. After the game, X-rays did not show any fractures, but further tests revealed a fractured metacarpal. The team is uncertain if Machado will require time on the injured list.

The Padres Struggling

The Padres have been struggling lately, losing nine of their last eleven games. They lost two of three games against the Kansas City Royals, who are currently in last place. Machado, who is hitting .231 with five homers and 19 RBIs, expressed disappointment about the team’s recent performance and his injury.

“It’s definitely a tough stretch for us,” said Machado. “We definitely want to be out there and help this team win in whatever way. It’s just a bummer. It’s not ideal for us right now.”

Machado’s Status Uncertain

After the injury, Machado’s range of motion has improved, and the swelling has gone down. But he says he is still dealing with pain and hasn’t tried gripping a bat since the injury. When asked if he would go on the injured list, Machado said, “I don’t know. We’ll see.”

The Padres’ Next Game

The Padres have a few days off before their next game against the Boston Red Sox. Machado’s injury is a concern for the team as they hope to improve their performance in the upcoming games. They are hoping Machado’s condition will improve, and he will be able to return to the field soon.
