The Dallas Cowboys are left reeling after a devastating 42-10 defeat at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers. Micah Parsons and his team are eager for a chance at redemption, but Niners’ star Deebo Samuel doesn’t believe the Cowboys truly wish for a rematch. In an interview with FanDuel’s “Up & Adams” podcast, Samuel warned the Cowboys, saying, “I don’t think [the Cowboys] want to see us again,” further insinuating that the outcome might be even worse. This remark was made in response to Parsons calling out George Kittle for donning an anti-Cowboys shirt after his triumphant performance with three touchdowns during the game.
The Stakes are Personal
Parsons, a highly regarded player for the Cowboys, expressed his disappointment with Kittle’s actions during his own podcast, “The Edge with Micah Parsons.” He felt that Kittle had unnecessarily taken their interactions to a personal level. Parsons firmly responded, “Laugh now, cry later. We got something for that, just trust. If we see them again, just trust… You gonna make it personal? We can make it personal.”
Samuel revealed that the 49ers had taken note of some of the Cowboys’ pregame comments, adding fuel to the already burning rivalry. He stated, “It was already personal before the game started, and now — 42-10 — I don’t think you want to see us again. It might be a little bit worse. I don’t know what we’re ‘trusting.’ He’s talking about ‘we trust,’ you know, ‘laugh now, cry later.’ I mean, I don’t think y’all wanna see us again.”
The 49ers secured a resounding 42-10 victory over the Cowboys, solidifying their status as potential Super Bowl favorites. This victory carried additional weight due to the history between the two teams, with the Cowboys having been eliminated by the 49ers in the previous two postseasons. The win also coincided with George Kittle’s 30th birthday, and during the celebration, he revealed a shirt with the words “F— Dallas” underneath his jersey in the end zone. This act may have been an allusion to former 49ers linebacker Gary Plummer, who wore a similar shirt during the 1994 NFC Championship Game against the Cowboys.
Reflecting on the victory, Samuel showcased the 49ers’ team mentality and versatility. He emphasized that in their team, any player could step up and have a breakout performance on any given day. This was evident with Kittle’s exceptional three-touchdown game. Samuel commented, “You never know who’s gonna go off. You never know whose day it’s going to be.”
As the Cowboys aim to overcome their recent humiliation, a potential rematch with the 49ers looms. Both teams have exchanged verbal jabs, increasing the intensity and anticipation. The 49ers have demonstrated their prowess and depth, making them strong contenders for the Super Bowl. Meanwhile, the Cowboys seek redemption and the opportunity to prove themselves against a formidable opponent. Will the rematch materialize? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain: this rivalry has reignited, and the stakes are higher than ever.
